This week in my kitchen

Inspired by beauty that moves, encouraged to make this kitchen a warm and welcoming one, where there’s always something to enjoy. Here is what has been going on this week…

kohlrabi curry

:: making up a meal with fresh garden produce. chopped paksoi, chard and snow peas worked wonderfully well with brown rice and a soft-boiled egg, still runny, broken on top of it.

:: my parents gave me two new quality knives for my birthday! They’re a dream to work with.

:: I managed to put together a lovely curry with all the kohlrabi I had laying around. You can find my recipe here.

  1. Fresh and delicious. Your kohlrabi curry sounds great. It is one of my favorite vegetables and I often eat it raw – it sounds fantastic in a curry!

  2. I didn’t really really like it raw – until I tried one I grew myself, it was so sweet! I must remember not to store them for too long. But I’m so happy with how the curry turned out, that will be the way to go for me for a while…

  3. I like it raw sliced thinly with lots of fresh lemon juice. This all looks and sounds delicious. Especially the veg with brown rice and softly boiled egg…yummy.
    Thanks for sharing.

  4. All that kohlrabi sounds so yum! I make a chinese salad with julienne kohlrabi dressed with soya sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, a teeny tiny touch of sugar, and topped with sliced green onion. The only hard part is eating some before the kids get to it! Looks all delicious.

  5. Your photos are great and the kohlrabi sounds great, I didn’t know it and I’m wondering where to find it here in Italy. Happy weekend!

  6. Thanks, Valeria. Here in Belgium, it’s not uncommon to find it at the supermarket. Maybe just ask around a bit, show a picture or something, maybe you’ll be surprised. I think it might work with other solid cole parts to. Maybe cauliflower or broccoli (it might especially work with broccoli stems, I think…)?

  7. Yes, the rice dish was really my kind of thing. I happily ate two servings plus the leftovers from my husband LOL!
